Marc and Nina Weinreich have taken this family estate and elevated the viticultural practices extensively over the past several years. The Estate has just completed the process of organic certification, and the next vintages released will be ‘officially’ certified...even if organic practices have held for some time now. Located in Bechtheim with 15 ha under vines, and annual average production of about 100,000 bottles, this innovative estate produces a range of wines from Riesling and Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder) to a delicious Schwarzriesling (Pinot Meunier). Soil composition is dominated by limestone, loess, and clay, with the chalky content providing a nice degree of moderate acidity. This is the first vintage of the Weinreich wines to be offered in the NY market.

"Blossomy floral and bramble notes accent ripe black currant and raspberry flavors in this zesty blend of Dornfelder, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s plush and velvety in mouthfeel and maintains intensity through a moderately long finish. Drink now through 2018." ~ 88, Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast April 2016

This liquid loveliness displays aromas and flavors of wet stone, lime, kiwi, and apples with a floral dimension complimented by intense minerality. Enjoy it now or ponder it for the next decade. Delicious!
The name literally means black Riesling. The grape is actually an early ripening mutation of Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir). In France it is referred to as Pinot Meunier. The vineyards are located in Bechtheimer, Reinhessen. An intense "green harvest" helps the vines produce rich and spicy grapes. The resulting wine exhibits a light cherry color, with aromas and flavors of bing cherry, and pepper, with a kiss of vanilla. At 13% alcohol this wine is refreshing and delicious.
