Jean Reverdy

Domaine Jean Reverdy is located in Verdigny, one of the top villages in Sancerre. It dates back to 1650 and has been in the Reverdy family for about 10 generations. Christophe Reverdy, son of the late Jean Reverdy, is the current propreitor.

The domaine spreads over 12 hectares (29.64 acres): 9 hectares Sauvignon, and 3 hectares Pinot Noir. The age of the vines is 25 years and older. The vineyard is divided into 15 parcels located on the hills of Verdigny, Saint Satur, Sancerre and Thauvenay.
The vineyards are planted on three different types of soil: silicious-clay soils, "Terres a Silex" (east of the hills) 55%; pebbly limestone soils, known as the "Caillottes" 35%; clay and limestone white soils, the "Terres Blanches" (west of the hills) 10%.

Sancerre Rose

This is a fruit forward and fruity wine revealing red berries, fresh strawberry, dry palate of raspberries and spice. Effusive red berry fruit, loads on palate yet remains dry. Fruit balances nicely with the sugar. Gorgeous pink color. Effusive red berry fruit, framboise. Loads of essence of red berry fruit on the palate, but it’s dry with herbs. Finishes long and very dry.

Reviews:

"Light, bright pink. Redcurrant, strawberry and chalk on the nose, with a touch of singed orange gaining strength with air. Dusty red fruit and citrus flavors are braced by tangy minerality, which adds lift and cut. Uncompromising in the best way, finishing with excellent clarity and echoes of lemon and orange zest."

Sancerre

100% sauvignon blanc from a single vineyard, vinified in stainless, no oak, no malolactic fermentation.

Reviews:

"One of the most famous family names of the Loire Valley is Reverdy, and this particular one, Jean Reverdy, has turned out an outstanding 2011 Sancerre La Reine Blanche. Clean, pure notes of white flowers, quince, melon, and white peach are all present in this surprisingly opulent, fleshy, rather exuberant and flamboyant style of Sancerre, which is quite dry but surprisingly plush. Drink it over the next several years."

Sancerre Rouge

Made from 100% Pinot Noir. 20% aged in oak barrels. The wine is spicy and juicy with cherry aromas, and proves the point that power is not necessary for a fine wine.
