Chianti Classico Riserva Calidonia DOCG

Arising from the selection of the best grapes grown on ideal lands, Signora Chiara’s Vineyard on the Mocenni estate near Vagliagli, this wine is elegant and complex. Made up of 97% Sangiovese and 3% Merlot, vines grow at an altitude of 420-450 m with cordon spur training. The soil of the area is predominately alberese and galestro (sand 33%, clay 33%, and silt 33%) on a south/south eastern facing slope. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats and maceration lasts for 18 – 21 days at a controlled temperature of 28/30°C. Shortly after malolactic fermentation the wine is transferred into oaken barriques – not new ones- where fermentation takes place, and the wine is aged for 15 months. The bottled wine then remains a further 12/15 months stored in the cellar for refinement prior to its release on the market. This wine maintains its characteristic properties and improves over time.
